The Bachelor of Arts is offered by the University of Boston in order to give students a more comprehensive education. There are a number of different areas that students can complete their coursework in. This is a very common first degree earned by many students, as it allows them to further their educational pursuits and earn higher salaries in their career. People from all walks of life can be interested in pursuing this Bachelor of Arts.
There are four major areas of focus for students who wish to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts. These are Drama, Music, Business, and Visual Arts. Each of these requires different amounts of prerequisite courses. Most students opt to take the equivalent of three years of general education coursework in order to fulfill their BFA requirement. This helps them to learn about various topics and prepare themselves for the demands that they will encounter in the field of each of these specific courses.
In the Bachelor of Arts, students choose to specialize in a specific area of study. For example, those who plan on specializing in Music may choose to go into Business or Visual Arts. Those in the Business may choose to pursue Accounting, Computer Science, or Marketing. The Visual Arts may decide to major in Film, Television, Visual Art, or Installation. Those in Installation may decide to major in Textile Design, Interior Design, or anything else related to installation.
Students who choose not to specialize in any area but want to take classes that provide them with an overall understanding of how the business world functions can also pursue the Bachelor of Arts without a specialty. They can pursue their BFA in General Studies or in any other area that they feel aspires to a broader learning experience. However, their GPA will be calculated based on the coursework that they do have in order to earn their Bachelor of Arts degree.
The University of Boston offers students the ability to take courses online. This allows students to work at their own pace online with minimal distractions. This is beneficial to students who are extremely busy and need the flexibility and independence offered by distance education. Classes that are offered online include Introduction to Psychology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Genetics. Online students are required to complete prerequisite courses first.
In addition to the Bachelor of Arts, the University of Boston also offers students the Bachelor of Science. Students can earn this degree by completing the core requirements in addition to their BFA, which includes courses in Business, History, Computation, Math, and Communication. This degree is valued above all others because it provides students with the necessary general knowledge of the field upon completion. It does not, however, make a student qualified to enter the professional fields based on the Bachelors of Arts degree alone.
