The Common App is an online undergraduate school admission program that candidates can use to apply for admission to almost all of the more than 900 accredited member colleges and institutions in the United States and the District of Columbia. The program has recently been redesigned in order to be able to target a much higher percentage of potential students. This increases the chances that the candidate's application will be accepted and that he or she will be granted an acceptance to attend the chosen college or university.
Unlike some of the other programs out there, The Common App does not require potential students to write an essay. Although most universities do require some sort of essay, students can still choose to include one on their application. The essay should be related to the specific course of study that the student is applying for admission to, as the application usually asks the candidate to demonstrate his or her eligibility for the selected course of study. However, if the student does not have enough time to prepare for an essay, he or she can simply send a PDF copy of his or her thesis or dissertation to the faculty committee for the college or university.
Another advantage of the common application is that it allows the student to select which universities or colleges accept his or her application. This is unlike the majority of other college entrance exams, in which one must submit not only his or her transcript and application papers but also letters of recommendation from teachers at various colleges. In addition, The Common App does not require candidates to provide transcripts from schools that they attended beyond the one for which they are applying.
Because The Common App is designed to match the applicant's academic credentials with the criteria of various colleges or universities, it provides a great deal of flexibility to the student who is trying to improve his or her chances of success with the Common App admissions process. Students can tailor the essay questions and answers to better fit the requirements of specific colleges and universities. Furthermore, applicants can create custom answers to common questions such as “what exactly is my major?”
Another advantage to the common application is that it provides a method of securely logging in to the website. A person might assume that a site like this has no way of tracking his or her activities online. However, The Common App has a secure login information page that allows people to access their information from any Internet connection. As long as there is a working Internet connection, a person can log in and change his or her login information whenever needed.
The last advantage to applying for the common app is that it is easy to fill out the application and turn it in. Unlike some college applications, The Common App asks for very little information and has a very short application process. Therefore, filling out the forms and sending the essay electronically is the easiest way to submit an essay for admission. A person might have to mail in a paper copy of the essay, but he or she can do this later if necessary. In addition, people who fill out the essay online do not . . . . . . have to worry about providing all of the necessary essay answers on time because the essay will be available as soon as it is printed out.
